- 2003 : Roderick MacKinnon was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work concerning channels in cell membrane

- 2012 Brian Kobilka was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for revealing the workings of an important family of receptors: G-protein–coupled receptors (GPCRs).
- 1989 : Award of the Wolf prize for major contributions to the fundamental theory of solids, in particular the behaviour of electrons in metals
- 2007 : J. Sifakis received the 2007 Turing prize, for his contribution to the efficient, reliable verification of embedded software and hardware.
